Look at that surf in the background of the photo I posted, last night. That morning we were surfing 1-2 ft point surf. Small and still fun down the line cruising, top to bottom, small cut backs and a couple of steps forward to regain momentum. The Larmo double eagle at 10'6", which Finshack bought from me, was my second favorite board of all time after that Andreini. The Double Eagle was undeniable in 1' surf. The shapes are very different but how much variation will prevent a 10+ foot long board from catching small waves? Currently, I'm riding a 10' Michael Miller egg which is the same template as his version of the eagle, only it has a fuller, rounder tail. I've had similar experience with the M.Miller egg that I have with Larmo eagle and Andreini long vaquero. Ridden them in surf from 1' to O.H. All are very good but the Andreini has always been better, especially in pumping energy. By the way, I have to give credit to Chris T and Big Steve for opening the door for me to the glider experience. Even though I grew up in P.B. and had owned Frye long boards 20 years ago, it wasn't until about 6-7 years ago that I really got hooked. Generally, I ride gliders 70% of the time now. The big break through for me was when I bought my first Larmo 10 ft Big Swallow twinzer. They are all good IMHO. It just depends on the rider. For what it's worth, Smukes' recommendation above is compelling because that Phillips model he refers to is exactly the custom I'm contemplating ordering from Jim. |
