Click to expand... I had one HotGen surf on the 8'4"(???) Roach had. Waves were less than perfect in the 4'-6' range. Board was quick, loose and as I described it to Roach at the time, very skateboard-esq in the conditions at hand. I was suprised at how well it carved a big turn with that wide tail. I had no issues with how it performed in the lumpy surf that session but never had the op to get it out on a clean lined up day. Heard later from another friend that it wasn't all that impressive in clean lined up beach break. Maybe these boards like a bit of size in order to show their true potential??? Aloha Click to expand... I don't think size is the issue. On Brian's advice, I took it out on a day more suited to longboarding. Waves were maybe thigh high at best but I waited for the ones that bowled up a bit and it was on those waves that the HG is a blast. It's just a guess but I think a little steepness is the key. |
