On the east coast USA (true bad waves). Also, i would recommend better glass jobs for the clear sanded finish alt. shortboard shapes. I would've dropped $1k+ at Real the other day on a holeshot if it wasn't 4x4x4oz. If the board in question had a 6oz bottom / 6/4 oz top then I would've been all over it and probably lost a girlfriend too hah. Having a super lightweight board i dont think is priority for many customers into christensons/albums/premium boards/etc. The colored ones with what appear to have deck patches are just too much imo @ $1600. Also, there was a teaser of an XTR christenson a few months ago. I would be soo stoked if XTR was an option for construction! Maybe just offer the shorter rippy-er shapes? This is the best pr you can do. Kudos to you furge and the christenson team! Click to expand... Really appreciate the input. I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to the consumer sentiment in terms of glassing on the boards. I know that the glass jobs have been a problematic subject when it comes to our boards in terms of durability on smaller shapes. In my opinion I think that the holeshot should absolutely come with a non tint/deck patch set up as well as a standard 4/4 4. (holeshot w patch) View attachment 1764778674522.png It's a give and take when it comes to retailers because they know what's best for the area they want to sell boards, but then I and Chris have no input really when it comes to what they order. I am not a shortboarder and never see myself being one so I'm not privy to boards glassed 4+4/4 in terms of performance and durability but I can grasp what you and others have said. It seems as though the smaller guys (5'10 170 and below) love the glass jobs while the more average sized and up crowd are more prone to having pressures. @urchin you probably have more experience than me when it comes to the subject of soft blanks, I'l bring it up in my next meeting w Chris. I don't know off the top of my head what density he uses for the shortboards @C_M |
