374565 23997 The new great unbiased wetsuit review thread 6 XXX Sep 30, 2025 2025-09-30T10:11:42-0400 Camel Rock said: The hyper freak is such a great fitting suit, but just not durable enough. To me it wasn't worth the trade off for just one season of use. Rip Curl Flashbomb has been my default for awhile. The e-bomb is going to offer better flex. Click to expand... Ditto on the Hyperfreak. Waiting to see if the 5/4 Psychotech I purchased will get more use as temps drop to the 50 degree range this winter. It would be a great service if folks here were to measure and post the length of the zipper on their front zip full suits. Some brands that otherwise fit fine are nearly impossible for me to get on and off due to the short zipper opening. OK- I measured the zipper opening (pre-threaded) of my two Hyperfreaks : 2023 hooded-zipper length 11" 2024 non-hooded-zipper length 12" Most every brand I've checked on has a shorter zipper, and non-threaded is a non starter for me. Maybe this isn't seen as an issue by some folks, but I don't know a surfer over 55 who doesn't have some mobility/flexibility issues with shoulders and/or neck. All my suits get rinsed after every use but I only break out the shampoo a couple of times per year. I never have to put a suit on while wet because I cycle through three wetsuits. I wear slippery socks to reduce stress on the material when going over my feet, and Speedo's (or equivalent) for going over the bum. High nylon content is best, slicker an more durable than most alternatives.
