34307 409 Who makes a better Penetrator 64 pointsurfer Nov 25, 2011 2011-11-25T07:55:39-0500 Great thread “Whale”! I feel that neither Dennis or John make a better board. It’s subjective and they are not in competition with each other. But please note that Dennis Ryder is the only person that is indorsed by John to make signature Penetrators. Dennis told me a great story about John, after surfing together on Kauai in 2005, John told Dennis that he had made him his most all time favorite board back in 1967. John took the board to Peru for one of the surf contest there. While there, John met a kid that was really stoked on surfing but was really poor, John said he could surf really well but didn’t have a board. So John gave him his all time favorite board. A tribute to what kind of guy John is. Dennis shaped that board for John when he was only 19 years old. The Penetrator is a classic board, period. When you see one of the old ones you know exactly what it is. There are few boards in surfing history like that. Think, Phil Edwards model, David Nuuhiwa nose rider, ect. This is why Dennis likes the classic shapes, and continues to shape them today. And how rare is it that the same guy that shaped this classic board in the early days still does it today. John Peck has a “Rocket” Penetrator on order with Dennis right now. Attached files
