335789 20655 The Death of Surfing 48 Austin from SD Jan 21, 2025 2025-01-21T12:00:29-0500 I didn't start going until the early 2000s, so never experienced the golden age of surf travel in the region but the other thing that drives me nuts is how crowded basically everywhere in Baja California is now. Places that are well known and easy to get to are obviously swarming with people. Last winter I watched a full on group yoga class on the dunes above a popular point break. It appeared many people were doing it on their lunch break while they "worked from home" out of their lifted Sprinter with StarLink. I've been avoiding those places for awhile so whatever, but now even the places that are difficult to get to that were mostly empty 10 years ago are overloaded. You can certainly get lucky and you can improve your odds by putting in more effort than the next guy and going farther, but it is still a bummer.
