| 335720 | 20655 | The Death of Surfing | 24 | Moustache Lou | Jan 20, 2025 | 2025-01-20T18:55:09-0500 | It seems to me that for so many people surfing today is less whatever you want to call what it was (‘way of life’/‘obsession’/etc), and more just a ‘pastime’ or ‘activity’, like golf, or hiking, or pickleball. “Hey! Let’s go surfing this morning and then we’ll play some pickleball this afternoon… after brunch and bottomless mimosas, of course!” But… What can ya do? Those people most certainly DO have the right to be in the water, so I feel it’s down to what several other folks have already said…. Keep surfing and take the bad with the good… Maybe try to ‘gently educate’ when it seems necessary (for the safety of yourself or others), and try to stay stoked. Or… quit surfing and become (even more?) bitter…. JMHO/YMMV |
