Took it out to some North County reefs this afternoon and I must say, if I'm looking for the glider sensation, I'll still be grabbing my 11'1 Chopwood. The Arenal has a lot more rocker so I think it'll go well with punchier/bigger waves, but it's not quite up to it for that Glider sensation. Will snag a pic of the rocker tomorrow. Hopefully will stress test this theory with the incoming swell this weekend. View attachment 68833 Click to expand... Similar with my old 10'6" Dreadnought. After I got the chance to try a couple 11'+ gliders, I realized it was just a qualitatively different experience. I never really got that sensation of speed; it wasn't much different than a pintail longboard. Maybe it would work differently for a less. . .hefty surfer than myself (and I hope the new owner is enjoying it). I've actually gotten the glider feel more from my 10'6" Eavey twin keel, despite having much less volume and not catching waves nearly as well (for me at my current weight, at least). But on days I can get that one going down the line, it feels like it's flying.
