My friend who lives in Vista said it took him a year and about $1700 when it was all said and done. The other girl I know who lives in LA said she had a very similar process to go through. Also, apart from what I hear through the grapevine, I do know the laws are pretty strict, as in you can't have a loaded weapon in your vehicle and it has to be disassembled and in a lock box. Someone in this thread mentioned that very thing. I won't get into discussions about disagreements because we all believe what we do and I am not here to change minds or have someone try to change mine. I will say that with the current state of the country and our cities, the last thing I would do if I have to be out in public is to be caught unarmed. In Texas, you can drive around with your rifle in your front seat if you desire. I would hate to have that freedom taken away. I usually avoid crowded and populated areas, but sometimes you have to get fuel or food or whatever and it requires one to be in populated areas where you can feel the unrest. Remember the weekend a few weeks ago when Hamas declared Jihad globally? You could feel the tension around my city. There were 2 stabbings just outside of grocery stores....in nice areas. Experience tells me that it is not a place to be and not be prepared to handle your self. All of that being said, before someone just thinks I am paranoid...I am not. But the realization hit me that I am the stopping point between me and my family. After the pandemic and the shit I witnessed in the DFW area with what people can do to each other, I quickly saw that playtime was over and the world changed overnight. The first line of defense is situational awareness and avoiding places to begin with, but I am also not a hermit and like being out with my family, so I have a huge responsibility to be the first line of defense for them. Yeah, I can train in combatives and I do, but it isn't enough if there is one of me and four of them. If I get taken out, who protects my young daughter? My wife? This is how I see things nowadays. Anyways, like I stated, this has nothing to do with my politics...just my personal beliefs, and I will not get into discussions on here about gun/weapon rights or any of that. I am aware, by others own admission, that many on here are pacifists and don't believe in guns and the big scary AR-15.... but the reality is that if I want to move to a place that does not consider its citizen's rights to protect themselves an important value, I have to think about that and how I will work around it. That is the practicality of it. Click to expand... Not a lot of guns available or allowed here in The Netherlands, but I hear ya on protecting your family. I have some legal "weaponry" but other than that just working on being a vicious bastard, my body as a weapon and all that
