299081 17382 California--Current State of Living? 37 Moustache Lou Dec 4, 2023 2023-12-04T11:41:28-0500 Qustom said: To this fourth generation San Diegan born in '61 the one thing that really stands out to me above the cost of living here is the relative filth of "America's Finest City" now vs. previous decades. It can be pretty depressing to make the drive up 163 south out of Mission Valley (just one example, it's pretty much everywhere) and see scattered trash, overgrown weeds in the center divide, furniture and appliances ditched on the side of the road, and so on. Then again the depression is usually greatly lessened on a nice sunny day, and gets much worse on the occasional gray and dreary one. Just my .98¢ (adjusted for inflation) Click to expand... It's pretty bad (and depressing) in certain areas of downtown… tents literally lining the streets, along with the trash one would expect from such a situation…. And nobody (read: 'the Government') seems to be even attempting to do anything about it. And I'm pretty sure there's really nothing private citizens can do (if I'm mistaken here, someone please correct me).
