Longer answer- Most of it is an echo back to you of your hunches. But first… that Apia is dope! The Hess Box likes a curvier wave and it‘s definitely more foiled and HP than the ASQ, which is why you said it would have worked perfectly in those slabby waves. The board needs to be smaller to work for you in those conditions. You’ve got to be able to be manhandle and shove it into the wave when the curve is that tight. That being said, if you took it out in BIG waves there would be enough size that the curve and energy of the wave would match the rocker and foam of the board and you would be set. Then it’s SOFA KING FUN. To be on a diminutive board that holds when its well OH is great. I hope that helps. |
