Great crossover sport for long boarding way better than snowboarding for surfing I reckon. Spent 17 seasons going back and forward between OZ and Lake Tahoe. We used to do an end of season road trip down the Eastern Sierras stopping at camp grounds and hiking up a couloir all morning then turns back to the camp. We would be sitting around the camp fire in the late arvo in shorts and T shirts when suddenly all the locals would put on Puffer jackets and long pants. WTF ? Suddenly the wind would rage and all the tents would almost blow down and it was freezing. 15 mins later it was still and warm again and back to shorts and T shirts Beer and Tacos. Katabatic winds. Love the Eastern Sierra especially around Bishop and Rock Creek. Also mountain bike. and am a professional horticulturalist managing large scale gardens so love gardening too. Click to expand... Love it. Do you still tele? I was on the US Telemark Ski Team for a few years. Used to love tele skiing and racing. Also taught alpine and Tele for years and I agree there is definitely some crossover between the sports.
