| 101366 | 486 | How was your surf today?....share your stoke! | 2623 | Chilly Willy | Aug 13, 2016 | 2016-08-13T15:38:54-0400 | A funny little moment from this morning's session: I took a bodyboard out into some small, pitchy waves sucking over a very shallow sandbar this morning. Right off the bat, I got a fun little micro-barrel and said to myself under my breath: "Nice!" A half hour or so later, an old lady swam out and started bodysurfing near me. She was shamelessly dropping in on me every time, and she wasn't even noticing me. Of course, I started getting a bit annoyed. It all came to a head when I was coming down the line at a pretty good clip, and she flops down in front of me once again. I had to turn pretty sharply, causing me to spray her square in the face with the water coming off my rail (accidentally, honest). We both washed up right around the same place, and I hear her say to herself in a low voice: "Nice!" (She was stoked about her ride.) Ahh man, I felt bad for being annoyed by her. This old lady was just as stoked as I was. I guess all of us waveriders really are cut from the same cloth. Whether you're gliding in on a longboard, pulling into some sandy little barrels on a sponge, or coasting in on your belly, it's all about mining the stoke and just having some fun riding waves. |
