I believe that 10 oz. volan fiberglass was used - it is a heavy board. Fin is 9 1/2" black glass on. Beautiful piece of work. A+ condition. Any takers before it goes on consignment for $850 (negot.)?? THE BOARD IS ACTAULLY 9'10" (my mistake)! Attached files |

So I offer a bump for ILM. Also if you don't mind what kind of deal did you get from Tony at Sweetwater for the Bing SS? I was eying the lightweight in his shop but it was too light for my taste :? but I never followed up with Tony about a custom from Bing. |

Honestly I haven't even discussed the price with Tony. I'm sure he'll be reasonable. . .always is. If you want to take the Tyler for a test drive, let me know. |

I have a balsa 9'10" longboard gun that's about the same weight. The glide and momentum is great but I'm having a hard time paddling this thing around compared to lighter boards. |

Pierre-- From my perspective you answered your own question. You gain glide and drive and lose ease of paddling and maneuverability. To a degree, this is a trade-off you make for a really good cruiser/noserider. |

I'm used to ride logs and I thought the lack of paddling power of that longboard gun might also be due to less volume ... but I guess you're right, it's mostly a weight problem and I'm finding out that it's not the best choice for a longboard gun when you really need some paddling speed to catch big waves and be able to move quickly when a big set comes ... Your board is beautiful by the way, I wish I had the money and that there wouldn't be a whole ocean between us ... |
| 1833 | 28 | 10' Tyler Craftsman Zeke | 10 | little AL | Oct 12, 2005 | 2005-10-12T05:02:53-0400 | I find that guns do not paddle as well as my nose riders of the same weight. I think it is because of the increse nose rocker wants to push a little more water. You have to get off the nose rocker when you paddle in order to stop that. I also had a very light weight gun and it did not paddle all that well eather. The way I say it is that a heavy board gives you more 60 to 120, while a light board gives you 0 to 60. In other words a heavy board may be a little harder to get going but it sure is nice once you get up to speed. What I try and make sure I make very clear to a new shaper, is this is going to be a big board and I'm not going to be able to push it under or through a wave so I need to be able to paddle it fast. Just my take on it. |

So, the board is still up for grabs. Click to expand... Jonzer or Jason, you should check with UPS Supply Chain Solutions ( http://www.ups-scs.com/ ). I bought a longboard in California and had it shipped to Puerto Rico for $123.00. I would call Janelli in Los Angeles even if you are in N.C. She should be able to help you, and she has shipped lots of surfboards so she won't be surprised or go silent when you mention the dimensions of the package. Her phone is (800) 445-1301. I expect the PR freight cost to be somewhat similar to Hawaii's. Hope this helps. mro |
| 1840 | 28 | 10' Tyler Craftsman Zeke | 15 | jonzer | Oct 14, 2005 | 2005-10-13T21:00:46-0400 | The quote I got from a local ups store was crazy ($800)! Jason, there is a guy nearby who wants the board. . .I told him you have first dibs. If you can find a shipper and I net $850 its yours. So if mro's guys can do it for $125 it will cost you $925 instead of $1100. If the board is paid for, I'll store it as long as you want. Let me know asap. Thanks and good luck! p.s. Thanks mro87. |

The way I look at it, you could get yourself a nice little bidding war going on here. Could be fun, or it could get ugly(ooooh!!!) The real question is, do any of them know where you live???? And you did say "$850 (nego)". I will give you $600 for it and pick it up at your door. Nothing like a trip from NJ to NC. p.s. Of course your board is worth every penny you are asking (if not more) and I would never want to piss off Benny (he knows all and I tend to ask some ? now and then) so I am only kidding. Unless you are thinking about the above deal and then I may be serious. By the way, I've following this thread and the $250 shipping quote seems fine since jason told you $1100 with shipping and you only want $850. Unless my math skills are off (but I am and engineer). It appears in between all these posts with g-coasts ladies that a deal has been made and no one on either end realizes it. Shake hands and ship the baord off. |

| 1907 | 28 | 10' Tyler Craftsman Zeke | 77 | jason | Oct 19, 2005 | 2005-10-19T13:04:21-0400 | okay so far I have only been able to find a quote for ABOUT 250... 278 to be exact. now i HAD 1100 a few days ago when the post originally went out. i sold a cooperfish to get the $$$. after hearing about my lovely sale, the wife decides she needs a couple of things down at the local 'department store'...(costumes for the fam) now i have 960... so when mro87 came back with 100 to ship, the wheel started spinning again... however the POC @ UPS is by far the hardest lady to get in touch with. i did receive a quote from that company, but it was way over what i had. i am still waiting to hear, and calling this lady daily with no luck. i really don't want to hold you up on this board, but if you don't mind i will call her again until she loses her job... if you do decide to sale it, let me know so i can hurry up and spend what i have left before my wife finds something else she 'needs'... as of this evening, i have 960... what can we do? NOW the f'ing plot thickens... i hope everyone is amused... oh, and for G-coast, I hope some waves are on the way for ya.... WILMA!!! |

Not exactly a Tyler, but still a good deal to be used as a loaner. BOSS said he will be down Sat. a.m, but i bet he's in the water Friday afternoon. Gonna be a great weekend. |

If you are interested in shipping through UPS Chain Supply, I think the best way would be for me to call Yaneli and make a conference call with you, so you can take it from there. Let me know. mro |

Once that is done I can setup the conference call with Yaneli so you can have the board picked up by UPS. I have to confess that I'm enjoying this as if I was purchasing the board myself. Wishful thinking. |
