It's a head turner for sure. Newlyn: Nice! Can't wait to see it. Did you go with the two offset stringers (per Jim's website), or something different?

Also not sure exactly where the wood came from, although I know it was Jim's, as opposed to coming from US Blanks. Apparently much of the redwood from US Blanks is very light color, so they are offering a "redwood alternative", which Andrew said is some kind of poplar. I wanted real redwood.

For a while--and only Andrew or Jim can tell us if there's still any left--Jim was using wood from an old (and obviously very tall) wine cask made of redwood and it made for lots of beautiful stringers. I can almost guarantee it will never break, I had to sharpen my block planes 3 or 4 times. The clear had gotten whacked in shipping from Hawaii and I had a wedge center from a 12'5" King Mac, added it to the 2 -5/16" western cedars, got the width to eliminate the whack and stretched the shape out to an even 12'3". Stuffed in the used racks was this beaut for 250, in solid rider shape other than a bad finbox retrograde shoving new box in old, so at least original box is solidly intact. Serial # has a few numbers -69, no initials, so wondering if Jim shaped it here. So stoked. Going to be a blast. 7'

Forgot to ask you if you could talk some story on this blade. Really refined shape - not a bulky warbaling wabbler, super foiled out and more progressive rail transitions, hip/tail width and thinness. Genius has always been pretty darn genius- I'm kinda thinking like vintage jag e-type ride-Float like a butterfly & sting like a beeeeeee that could handle any wave thrown at it at our point/reefs- so stoked to ride her, for now it's just foreplay.
