I can understand being offended by something if it directly affected you or a love one that you actually knew. It's odd too that we hold onto the white racist references like we do and seem to overlook more recent indiscretions. Why aren't we still up in arms about internment camps we put Japanese Americans in? Or what we did to many Native Americans? Or the lack of civil rights given to blacks for years after slavery? Lots of terrible things have happened throughout history but for some reason we still bash a flag that we think only stood for the promotion of slavery.
