Ok\u2026 ATTEMPTING to paddle out\u2026 because \"My serf coach said I wuz ready!\" :-/\n        \n\n\nClick to expand...\n\n\n\n\nWhenever I see this style of \"surf vlogger\" I can't help but wonder if these people don't have friends in their life who will be honest with them about how their content comes across. Maybe they do-but the money speaks louder and they don't care? As a card carrying VAL, it has to be some of the kookiest stuff I've seen. Downright painful to watch.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI will also take this opportunity to commend the local pro, Brett Barley, who goes to real effort to not blow up spots in his videos. I make my way around the island enough to know the general area he's at in the videos of his I see. (Not all dunes lines/heights/vegetation/parking lot is the same... not to mention the actual wave of course.) But he does a fair job keeping shots tight, blurring out backgrounds at times, and not dropping to many hints. I don't watch all his content but from what I've seen, if it isn't the lighthouse or the point, he doesn't name anything. One could of course argue that the better thing to do is to just not be filming spots at all-but I think it's a happy medium."]], "columns": ["post_id", "thread_id", "thread_title", "post_number", "author_username", "post_date", "post_date_iso", "post_body"], "primary_keys": ["post_id"], "primary_key_values": ["336032"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.5808099995192606, "license": "Public Domain"}
