Of course, you won't find many homeless tent cities in the desert or at 8,000 ft up in the Rockies and there are reasons these problems arise in population centers. But in my travels across the country I have seen these issues and it is not pretty. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne cause is the human side-effects of being at war (take your pick, Civil War, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, the Long War (counter terrorism) and today's wars result in more invisible mental trauma compared to earlier wars which resulted in greater physical trauma. Unemployment and drug addiction and homelessness are highly linked.
