Sure I don't rip but given the choice I'm paddling over to a steeper peak or trying to find a wave that walls up.  Our local spot sometimes has both.  I do get plenty of long long rides on the outside bar but what feels like going straight for 200 yards in whitewater isn't even a memorable challenge.
