Then again I river surf my surfmat on standing waves here in Colorado when the snow melts and we get a rush of water for a few months.  Also my booties are usually the dive version with a larger profile and thicker soles for rocks in the river (especially when I am river surfing my ocean boards). Those dive booties have toe caps and a tab thing on the back the booties to hold the fins on as a bonus.  (See link to some O'Niells).  Regular ocean thick booties are a bit smaller so maybe an XL Yucca fin would work in my case.
