We rented them out of our beach wagon when I was a kid. Boogie boards were much more popular, but I think my dad kept the floats in our inventory out of sentimental value. He learned to surf on them as a little kid. We'd leave them in the sun until they swelled up drum hard, then take them out and you could stand on them if you weren't too heavy. The gifts shops all sold cheap knockoffs, but the ones we had were built like tanks. They were some kind of pretty thick canvas material with a yellow rubber coating on the ends.
